Hakim Sikander

Dr. Hakim Sikander has worked as Exploration Coordinator for Sirte Oil Company (successor of Esso Libya) on Ghadamis, Murzuq and Sirt basins. He previously worked as subsurface geologist with Shell Canada in the Western Canada Basin and subsequently with Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas (HBOG). He was Exploration Manager at Canterra Energy's and worked on their Canadian Frontier Areas and on the Terra Nova oil discovery. Later, based in Cairo, Egypt, he managed the World Bank/ Petro-Canada participation in the Red Sea Project. He has been involved in basin evaluation, play generation and oil discoveries in western Canadian, east coast Canada and North African basins.

Dr. Sikander received his M.Sc. from Birmingham University (UK) and PhD from University of Ottawa in structural geology. He has jointly published several papers in industry journals on geological aspects of the Scotian Shelf, Red Sea and Libyan basins. He is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
